5 Basic tips to stay motivated, determined and focused

No, it’s not about the book, people! Although that book has inspired me a lot. I mean when we look around, all we see are people stuck on their mobile phones and they just want to connect through social media, not physically. This is where we are lacking behind, as the typing speed in our phones is way much faster than the speed of our brains to think. But this was not the case with the older generation. They were way more calm, focused and determined than we will ever be. So, what is the problem with us? The answer to this question is simple: we do not stay as hungry, foolish and focused as they were.

Now you would object what is the harm of connecting through social media and technology, as it has more pros than cons, but this technology, this connection has deprived us from our main goals in life. And the means and ways to achieve these goals are yet not clear to us, not to me, though, as of now. We should be focused from the very beginning, only then we will be able to come up with new and creative ideas, like startups and stuff. This feeling of determination should burn in our souls and race through our veins just like the blood flowing through our body that help it stay pumped up throughout the day for doing any activity which will bring us closer to our mission, our aim.

Follow these 5 basic tips to stay hungry, stay foolish people!

1. Make your decisions about tomorrow, today!

Before you go to sleep, make some basic decisions about what will you do tomorrow, such as what will you wear, what will you eat for lunch, and the route will you take to work. It is easier to think about exactly what will you pack for your lunch which is healthy the night before than to decide what you are going to have with a hot dog vendor parked in front of your workplace.

The same applies when it comes to spending money. Set a monthly budget and stick to it.

Make a decision the night before that you won’t check your Whatsapp, Facebook or Instagram before you have completed the more important tasks that needs to be completed the next day. Stick to your schedule and at the end of the day, close your eyes for a few minutes and take in how good you feel to be in charge of your day.

Getting into the habit of planning your day in advance will remove your easiest decisions from the table, making it easier to avoid getting sidetracked and wasting time and energy on small, unimportant things.

2. Eliminate the Distractions

This is yet another important task to do. Eliminate all the negative vibes coming through your way and attract all the positive vibes as much as you can. This can be done by staying focused on your job, be happy at what you do and avoiding the distractions which hurdle you from doing your work. It will lighten up your mood and will make you feel energized all day long.

It is important to note that responding to these distractions will set you up as a weak and spineless person. These distractions are just for a short period of time and they will resolve themselves on their own over time.  By not responding, you are sending a message that you are a strong-willed, focused person who is very busy and over time you will be bothered less by trivial, time-wasting matters.

3. Use your Imagination

Your imagination is so powerful that it can alter what you see and hear in the physical world. I submit, then, that it easily has the power to change your mindset to a happier and in a well-determined state. 

Important Lesson: Remember childhood, before you were trained to be ‘responsible’? Exercising your imagination muscle will  generate creative ideas, motivate you, and make you happier, if you use it well. Happiness is a perspective, and  using your imagination is an effective way to alter your perspective to your liking. Or at the very least, it can get  you out of bed!

4. Be Happy at what you do

Wouldn’t your life be so amazing when you are happy at what you’re doing and it is making you feel so good, right? It should be your dream, which you need to fulfill in my opinion as it will help you feel good about yourself, your job, the people you care about, people you don’t care about and literally everyone around you. Follow your passion so you need not pretend that you are happy, but you actually are. Your body will lighten up with positive thoughts and you will be flushed with self-happiness feeling righteous, determined and motivated too.

5. Remind yourself of your Goals Every Day!

Create a vision board, a mind movie, or some system that serves as a constant reminder of what you are working towards. The ‘why’ behind the goal is crucial as it will serve as a motivator.

Reminding yourself of your goals is a must. Set aside regular time daily, be it only five minutes, to visualize this goal. The more details you can put in, the better. Become emotionally involved with the visualization by putting music, videos, or anything that provides you with an emotional charge. The emotional connection is hugely important, as this will motivate you to keep moving towards your goal.
